When purchasing a home, the mortgage loan application is very distressing for a lot of people, but it doesn't have to be. I have excellent relationships with a lot of mortgage lenders in St. Clair County, and they've helped me understand a few things that can make the process of applying for a loan a snap.

1 – Create a list of questions about your loan program

If you find that you do not thoroughly realize the advantages and disadvantages of the different programs, make sure to have a list of questions. It is hard to know the characteristics of both fixed and adjustable rate mortgages. One of my trusted lenders or I will assist you with understanding the advantages and disadvantages of each one.

2 – Decide when to lock

When you lock in the interest rate, a mortgage lender is guaranteed to hold to the interest rates for the loan – ordinarily at the time the loan application is presented. By floating the rate, you can lock the rate at any time between the loan application day and at the time of closing. Buyers who prefer to float think that interest rates will dip in the near future. 3 – Compile your paperwork

Obtaining a mortgage loan requires lots of paperwork, so you should spend some time getting your documents together. Click here to get a feel for normal questions you'll have to answer on a loan app.
